Educational Projects inaugurated in Jabal Akhdar with Support from PDO

The Ministry of Education celebrated the inauguration of a group of educational projects in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, under the patronage of HE Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, with the support of Petroleum Development Oman, and in the presence of Ali Al Harthi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, Dr. Hisham Al Siyabi, Executive Director of Gas at Petroleum Development Oman, and a number of officials from the Ministry and the company.

Ali Al-Harthi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, said that the launching of these projects embodies the value of partnership and integration between state institutions and the private sector in supporting the education process and improving its outcomes, noting that these initiatives contribute to keeping pace with the aspirations of the Ministry of Education towards improving the educational process, enhancing students’ capabilities and opening wider horizons for creativity and innovation.

He explained that the value of the supported projects amounts to about 400,000 Omani riyals, and includes STEM halls, innovation incubators, 3D printers, and modern monitoring systems in schools, stressing that these projects contribute to creating a stimulating educational environment, developing students’ capabilities and enhancing their creativity, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which places education at the forefront of development priorities and investment in human beings.

Eng. Mohammed Al-Aghbari, Director of External Affairs, Government Relations and Communications at PDO, affirmed that education represents the cornerstone of the renaissance of nations and the most worthwhile investment for building human beings and shaping the future, noting that the educational projects supported by the company contribute to creating a stimulating educational environment that helps prepare a generation aware of knowledge and capable of serving the nation.

He added that these initiatives stem from the company’s social responsibility and its keenness to support development sectors in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. He explained that the company has supported more than 100 educational projects in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman over the past five years, as part of its efforts to invest in people and empower them with the tools of the future. He emphasized that these initiatives come in cooperation with the Ministry of Education to enhance community partnership and enable generations to contribute to the national development process.

The projects included surveillance camera systems to enhance security and safety in the school environment, along with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) halls equipped with modern educational tools that contribute to developing students’ scientific thinking and innovation skills. They also included providing 3D printers that allow students to turn their ideas into applied models, in addition to establishing an innovation incubator to support student initiatives and encourage a culture of creativity and entrepreneurship.

HE Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al-Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, and his accompanying delegation from the Educational Directorate of Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate and Petroleum Development Oman, visited the Innovation Hall at Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar School, where he reviewed a number of innovative student projects that embodied the students’ skills in the fields of innovation, technology, and applied learning. He listened to an explanation from the students about the project ideas and their implementation mechanisms, and what they reflect in terms of creative abilities that contribute to developing scientific thinking skills and promoting a culture of innovation in the school environment.

These projects aim to enhance security and safety in the school environment through modern surveillance camera systems, in addition to providing an advanced educational environment that supports learning in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), enabling students to use advanced technologies such as 3D printers in applied learning, contributing to the development of students’ innovation and creativity skills through the innovation incubator, linking theoretical learning with practical application by promoting project-based learning, as well as supporting the trends of digital transformation and innovation in educational institutions.
