HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibani, Minister of Education, and her accompanying delegation conducted field visits to educational institutions in the Dhofar Governorate, as part of monitoring the reality of the educational system in the school and university education sectors, identifying its developmental needs, and enhancing the quality of outputs in line with the requirements of Oman Vision 2040.

At the beginning, HE visited Dhofar University, and was briefed on the most prominent developments in academic and administrative aspects. She discussed with officials a number of future aspirations and development projects that the university seeks to implement in the next stage. She met with the university Chancellor, his deputy, and the heads of academic departments, where the meeting discussed ways to develop educational programs and enhance the quality of outputs. The university Chancellor gave a visual presentation in which he reviewed the university’s achievements, programs, and future plans.

HE was briefed on a number of university facilities, including the College of Medicine, the Anatomy Laboratory, and the Fifth Generation Innovation Laboratory at the College of Engineering. She met with a number of students and members of the Student Advisory Council, in a tour aimed at enhancing direct communication with students, understanding the educational environment, and supporting their academic journey.

As part of her visit to the governorate’s educational institutions, HE visited Khawla Bint Hakim School for Girls (9-12), where she met with the school’s administration and discussed educational and administrative aspects, and ways to develop the educational environment in a way that enhances the quality of the educational process. She also reviewed the vocational and technical education track and its applied programs that contribute to developing students’ skills and preparing them for the labor market, in support of the trend towards specialized educational tracks.

During the tour, HE was briefed on the modern educational pathways at the school, including the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Hall, with the aim of following up on and observing the work of the students in the fields of innovation, artificial intelligence, and robotics, and assessing their level of applied skills, and enhancing support for these trends in the school environment.

This visit aims to enhance integration between the school and university education sectors, to learn about the reality of academic and research programs and projects in educational institutions, to support efforts aimed at raising the quality of education and its outcomes, in addition to supporting and developing the vocational and technical education path, to learn about applied experiences that enhance students’ skills, to link educational outcomes with labor market requirements, and to promote the trend towards skills-based and innovation-driven education, in a way that contributes to enhancing students’ readiness for the requirements of the future.
