Minister of Education meets with the Governor of Dhofar

HE Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibani, Minister of Education, and her accompanying delegation, met with HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and a number of officials in the governorate, as part of the visits that HE is carrying out to enhance communication with governors and members of municipal councils, and to discuss ways to develop the educational process and exchange visions and proposals that support it.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of the pillars of education development in the Sultanate of Oman. Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jamoudi, Director-General of Curriculum Development, gave presentation on updating curricula according to the best international standards, building Omani curriculum standards documents, preparing a professional framework for future skills, and developing the study plan for grades (1-12).

Dr. Yahya Al-Harthi, Director-General of the Specialized Institute for Professional Training of Teachers, reviewed the institute’s efforts in empowering educational staff, through the development of preparation and qualification programs, the promotion of professional development, and the building of the national framework for the teaching profession, in addition to expanding vocational and technical education pathways, and updating the educational evaluation system and the digital transformation in national tests.

In the area of ​​digital transformation, Dr. Faisal Al-Busaidi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Information and Communication Technology, presented the Ministry of Education’s projects, which included digitizing curricula, launching the “Noor” educational platform, implementing the Digital Atlas project, providing modern educational technologies, in addition to building capacities in the field of artificial intelligence.

Saif bin Said Al-Kharousi, Director-General of Human Resources, reviewed the regulations for transferring teachers and the statistics on appointments and transfers in Dhofar Governorate during the past five years, while Fahd bin Said Al-Qasabi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Scholarships, discussed the data on scholarships and grants for the academic year (2025/2026), including the number of accepted students and their distribution according to funding agencies and specializations.

In the same context, Sulaiman Al-Ruwaishdi, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Strategic Planning, presented statistical indicators reflecting the reality of education in the Sultanate, including the numbers of students and teachers and the development of the educational infrastructure. Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Saadi, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Financial Affairs, reviewed the development of the financial budgets for Dhofar Governorate, and the number of student transport buses and their cost during the period (2022-2026).

This meeting comes as a confirmation of the integration approach between the Ministry of Education and the governorates, which contributes to developing an educational system that keeps pace with the requirements of the future and supports national development paths, through strengthening institutional partnership, coordinating joint efforts, and investing in visions and proposals that contribute to raising the quality of education, developing its environments, and enabling students and teachers with the tools of transformation and competitiveness in light of the changes of the era.
